Why Bring Cardiovascular Screening to the Workplace?

I've spent more than 20 years working in vascular imaging and alongside vascular surgery. During that time, I've worked with a lot of different people, but I've noticed something about the people who work some of the hardest jobs.

They're often the people who have the hardest time taking care of themselves.

I'm talking about people who work long shifts, rotating shifts, nights, weekends, physically demanding jobs, manufacturing, transportation, skilled trades, first responder positions, and all of the other jobs that keep things running.

They're busy.

And when you're working 10- or 12-hour shifts, the last thing you may want to do on your day off is make another doctor's appointment.

Sometimes you don't have the time.

Sometimes you don't want to take time off work.

And sometimes you just feel fine, so getting checked doesn't seem very important.

I understand that.

I've also spent enough years looking at blood vessels to know that feeling fine doesn't always tell you what's going on underneath the surface.

I've seen what can happen when things aren't caught early

Over the years, I've seen things during vascular testing that made me think, “I wish we had known about this sooner.”

I'm not saying that every condition can be prevented or that a screening can predict what will happen to someone. It can't.

But finding a potential concern gives a person something they didn't have before: information.

And information gives you the opportunity to talk to your healthcare provider and decide what needs to happen next.

That's a big part of why I created ForgedWell.

So I decided to bring the testing to you

Instead of asking people to find time for another appointment, drive somewhere else, and try to fit healthcare into an already packed schedule, we bring cardiovascular screening to the workplace.

I bring the ultrasound equipment. I bring the vascular testing equipment. I bring the EKG.

You show up for your scheduled screening, and I do the testing right there.

No complicated medical adventure required.

The goal is to make cardiovascular screening easier to actually get done.

Who is ForgedWell for?

ForgedWell was created with hardworking people in mind.

The people who spend their days operating equipment, driving trucks, working production lines, building things, responding to emergencies, working in the field, lifting, climbing, repairing, manufacturing, or doing the jobs that don't stop just because it's time to make a doctor's appointment.

Your health matters too.

And you shouldn't have to wait until something happens to start paying attention to it.

A screening doesn't replace your doctor or your regular medical care. It simply gives you another opportunity to look at your cardiovascular health and, when appropriate, take that information to your healthcare provider.

I've spent more than 20 years looking at vascular health.

Now I'm bringing that experience to the workplace.

Because sometimes the easiest way to get people to take care of themselves is to meet them where they already are.
